The Wing Chun Collective (TWCC) does not run specific beginner classes. All new students join the main class and start integration into our family-like association from day one. Each class has students at different levels and each is taught according to their own needs.
Your First Session
TWCC gives a FREE introductory lesson to visitors that can be used to join in or watch a class. If you intend to join in on your first session, wear something appropriate like a T-shirt, training trousers, and training shoes. Use your first session to decide if Wing Chun fits your circumstances and whether you want to return for further sessions.
If you return you can attend any of our classes on a pay-as-you-train basis. Costs for the sessions can be found in our Table of Charges. During your introductory period, you will be an associated member of The Wing Chun Collective, and be covered by temporary insurance for your activities.
Introductory Period
Your introductory period will last at least 8 sessions, including the free session. This period will allow you to assess our classes, students, and instructors. You will be given information to help you decide whether or not to join us. Your attendance through the introductory sessions lets us make a preliminary physical and mental assessment of you. We use this information to decide whether we think you will be suitable as a student of ours. If we think you will be suitable we will invite you to join us.
After your invitation, you must either accept or decline. If you decline you will not be allowed to continue training with us. If you accept, you must fill in a club membership application form and pay the first membership fee of £45.00. This covers your membership and insurance for the first 12 months. To continue training Membership and Insurance must be renewed annually for £35.00 per annum.
Non-attendance
A continuous run of non-attendance for 6 weeks or more renders a student’s membership and insurance invalid. Thereupon, their membership of The Wing Chun Collective is cancelled. If a student wishes to continue their training after this they will need to restart the introductory period. After the introductory period, they must then pay the first membership and insurance premium of £45.00 again. Whereas, consulting with the Sifu/ Instructor in any case of extended absence, this can be avoided.
Insurance is arranged through the British Martial Arts and Boxing Association (BMABA). Information on the BMABA can be found on their website linked below:
